Hi — I’m Talia Sarraf, the writer behind Chemistry and Cosmetics, a blog where I explore the science behind skincare and makeup. I started this platform out of a personal curiosity about what actually goes into the products we use every day and how their ingredients affect the skin. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a deeper interest in researching cosmetic ingredients, product formulation, and the evidence behind common beauty claims.
I’m currently a psychology student at Boston University with a strong interest in science communication, behavior analysis, and consumer education. Through this blog, I combine academic research with personal interest to translate cosmetic chemistry into clear, accessible information. My goal is to move beyond trends and marketing language and focus instead on ingredient interactions, formulation science, and practical guidance grounded in research.
On Chemistry and Cosmetics, I write about topics such as ingredient compatibility, SPF in nontraditional beauty products, how to build effective skincare routines, and the science behind popular cosmetic ingredients. Each article is driven by research and critical evaluation, with an focus on helping readers understand not just what works, but why it works.
This blog is an evolving project that reflects my commitment to thoughtful research, clear communication, and empowering people to make informed decisions about their skincare and makeup. I see Chemistry and Cosmetics as both a personal creative outlet and an academic exercise in translating complex science into everyday understanding.
